Registering to vote

If you want to vote in the 2015 General Election, or the local elections happening at the same time in some areas, you must register to vote before the deadlines set. Every person has to do this individually.

The deadlines for registering to vote in the 2015 general election and local elections are:

  • 16th April – DEADLINE for postal and proxy voter registration forms if you live in Northern Ireland
  • 20th April – DEADLINE for voter registration (online or posted forms) if you live in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland
  • 21st April – DEADLINE for postal voter registration form if you live in England, Scotland or Wales
  • 28th April – DEADLINE for proxy voter registration form if you live in England, Scotland or Wales.

You should receive written confirmation from your local Electoral Registration Office confirming that you are registered.
